The High Court has ordered authorities to complete the long-delayed investigation into the 2012 murders of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi within six months. A bench led by Justice Farah Mahbub issued the directive, also forming a six-member task force to probe the case, removing the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) for repeatedly failing to submit a report. The court directed the Home Ministry to implement the decision. Runi's brother Nowsher recently petitioned for appointing nine lawyers to assist the state, a request the court granted. Despite years of delays and multiple investigating bodies, including RAB, the case remains unresolved. The murders occurred on February 11, 2012, with their five-year-old son present at the scene.
