Dhaka woke up to heavy rain and thunderstorms early Wednesday, offering some relief from the recent heat while creating major trouble for commuters, students, and office-goers.
The rain started around 6:45am, leaving many people caught outside without umbrellas and forcing them to seek shelter in nearby shops and buildings. A shortage of public transport and higher fares demanded by rickshaw and autorickshaw drivers made travel even more difficult. Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department warned that Kalboishakhi storms may hit 20 districts by evening, with winds reaching speeds of 45–60 km/h.
