Mansur Musa, a final year student at Rangpur Medical College and a resident of Gaza, Palestine, shared his heart-wrenching experience with the media on Saturday night (April 12) at an institution on Central Road in Rangpur city. Speaking with deep emotion, he revealed that he has lost contact with many of his family members in Gaza, uncertain whether they are alive or have been martyred. “It’s extremely difficult to communicate with them,” he said. “I haven’t received any news about my parents and relatives. The Israeli forces are constantly attacking—only Allah knows who will survive the next moment.”
Mansur, who came to Bangladesh to pursue medical education, was born and raised in Gaza. He expressed shock at the level of brutality inflicted on Palestinians, saying, “The violence by Israeli forces has surpassed even medieval barbarity. Around 16 to 18 percent of my family members have been brutally killed over the past few months. Humanity is being grossly violated in Gaza.”
Describing the dire situation in his homeland, Mansur said the people of Gaza are living in constant fear, with no safe place to seek shelter. “Women, children—no one is safe. The Israeli forces are dropping bombs indiscriminately. It’s like they’re playing Holi with the blood of the people of Gaza,” he said. He added that infrastructure such as homes and hospitals has been destroyed, and residents live under a constant, 100% risk of death.
Despite the horrors, Mansur holds on to hope. “We believe the conscience of the world is waking up. The brutality of the Israeli forces will eventually come to an end,” he said.
Expressing deep gratitude to the people of Bangladesh, he said, “Bangladeshis have stood by the Palestinians since the beginning. They are helping in many ways, and for that, we are eternally thankful.” During his interaction with the media, Mansur was accompanied by two of his classmates.
