Hasnat Abdullah and Sarjis Alam, prominent coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, have withdrawn their writ petition aimed at banning the activities of 11 political parties, including the Awami League and the Jatiya Party. The withdrawal was submitted to the High Court, presided over by Justice Fatema Najib and Justice Sikder Mahmudur Razi. Initially, the petition accused these parties of engaging in indiscriminate killings and undermining democratic institutions. It sought to suspend their political activities and participation in elections, while also calling for the annulment of the last three elections (2014, 2018, and 2024) and demanding that former parliament members return their salaries and benefits. Along with Abdullah and Alam, Hasibul Islam also played a key role in filing the petitions.
