Water Resources Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan has announced that the government is set to begin protective measures along 20 kilometers of the Teesta River's banks. Additionally, the Ministry of Finance has approved Tk 243 crore for safeguarding 43 kilometers of erosion-prone areas. Speaking at a World Water Day event in Dhaka, she outlined the government's plans, which include emergency protection efforts using Geo bags and concrete blocks, as well as an extended feasibility study for the Teesta Mega Plan. She also emphasized the importance of public consultations, involving Power China and local stakeholders, to ensure a comprehensive approach. The event, attended by key officials, also underscored the need for broader reforms in the water sector.
