The Adviser to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Md. Nahid Islam, announced that the government is considering scholarships for children of journalists. He stated, "We are also looking into providing pensions or financial support for retired journalists, and we will share our decision on this matter soon." Nahid made these comments on Wednesday during the check distribution event for the 2024-25 fiscal year grant from the Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust, which took place at the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) auditorium. In the first phase, grant checks were awarded to 350 journalists. On the same day, Nahid Islam also mentioned, "There are many outdated regulations in the media, and we are gradually working to repeal them."
