The student branch of the Bangladesh Awami League, the Chhatra League, has been outlawed by the interim government for its direct and indirect involvement in murders and terrorist and destructive acts.
The decision will be put into effect in accordance with Clause 18(1) of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 2009, the Home Ministry's Public Security Division announced in a gazette notice on Wednesday.
The announcement states that the Chhatra League would now be officially recognised as a terrorist organisation.
