The government has allocated over Tk 33.87 crore from the Disaster Management and Relief Ministry to provide blankets for people affected by the cold. "Tk 33,87,50,000 has been designated for distributing blankets to distressed and cold-stricken individuals nationwide," stated an official release on Friday (January 3). Additionally, around 679,000 blankets, procured from the chief adviser's relief fund, have already been distributed. Furthermore, 15,250 blankets were distributed by the ministry to distressed individuals in 14 northern districts, the release mentioned. The ministry has instructed Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) to promptly purchase blankets using the allocated funds and distribute them to the cold-affected population, ensuring compliance with all financial regulations. Deputy Commissioners (DCs) have been directed to closely monitor the blanket procurement and distribution process.
