The government has made the decision to ban outdated cars in Dhaka for a period of six months. It is anticipated that car owners will take action to transition to more ecologically friendly modes of transportation during this time.
Syeda Rizwana Hasan, the adviser to the Ministry of Water Resources and the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change, made the announcement Thursday at a press briefing after a discussion at the Power Division office on the need to remove outdated motor vehicles in order to reduce air pollution in Dhaka.
According to the adviser, getting rid of outdated cars will assist Dhaka's air quality, which would benefit the health of its residents. She added that there won't be any more breathable air in Dhaka if nothing is done. The public will not suffer as a result of the government's efforts to minimize pollution.
