The interim government is considering introducing Universal Military Training for youth, following a proposal from Deputy Commissioners (DCs) during their recent conference in Dhaka. The discussion took place in a session with the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces Division at Osmani Auditorium. Lt Gen (retd) Abdul Hafiz, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, mentioned that DCs suggested expanding training programs to improve civil-military cooperation and strengthen the relationship between civil administration and the military. They also proposed organizing military training for youth to actively support national defense. The session also addressed security concerns, including efforts to recover 1,400 looted weapons and 250,000 rounds of ammunition from the August unrest, as authorities continue to counter the activities of autocratic forces.
