Global Shumul Plastic, a Turkish initiative aimed at delivering the “Great Brotherhood of Gaza” aid campaign, has been sending food, tents, and hygiene supplies to Gaza. Shipments leave Turkey, cross into Egypt, and are then delivered to Rafah. Despite difficulties in coordinating aid deliveries from Turkey, the group has persisted.
“We’ve sent over 1,000 tons of aid to Gaza, including thousands of tents and hygiene supplies. The aid is transported by ship to Egypt and then transferred to Rafah. Once in Rafah, it is stored in warehouses and gradually delivered into Gaza. For example, our last convoy entered Gaza just two days ago,” explained Aydın Karapınar, a member of the group.
Karapınar also emphasized the challenges: “Every time we prepare to send supplies, we face long and difficult procedures. There’s no guarantee that our aid will reach Gaza on time, but we don’t stop. This is our humanitarian duty, and we continue until the last moment.”
Turkish organizations such as Global Shumul Plastic, the Turkish Red Crescent, and the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation are among those sending aid to Gaza. However, compared to the urgent need, the amount of aid reaching Gaza is still very limited.
Dr. Muhammed Afsin Demira, a Turkish doctor who worked in Gaza, highlighted the dire conditions: “The hospitals are overwhelmed. Supplies are scarce. Many operations cannot be performed due to a lack of materials and electricity. We are trying to save lives, but the reality is heartbreaking.”
Despite the many obstacles, aid groups remain determined to continue their efforts, insisting that the international community must do more to ensure safe and consistent humanitarian access to Gaza.
