In a special interview with Prothom Alo, Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman stated, "The give-and-take relationship with India must be based on fairness." He explained, "India is an important neighbor, and we depend on them in many ways. India also benefits from us. Many of their people work in Bangladesh, both formally and informally, and many Bangladeshis seek medical treatment in India. We purchase many products from them. Therefore, India has a significant interest in Bangladesh's stability. It’s a give-and-take relationship, and it should be fair. Any country naturally seeks to benefit from others, but if we fail to gain those benefits, it is our responsibility. We must address these issues and maintain good relations built on fairness. People should not think that India is dominating Bangladesh or acting against our interests in any way."
