Germany has agreed to provide €180.807 million (approximately Tk2,265 crore) in financial and technical aid to Bangladesh. The development cooperation agreement was signed on November 28 between Md Shahriar Kader Siddiky, Secretary of Bangladesh's Economic Relations Division, and Achim Tröster, Germany's Ambassador to Bangladesh. Of the total amount, €45.8 million will be allocated for Technical Cooperation, and up to €135 million will go towards Financial Cooperation. The support will focus on areas such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, sustainable urban development, vocational education, social and environmental supply chains, trade, infrastructure, biodiversity protection, and combating domestic violence. Since 1972, Germany has contributed over €3.5 billion to Bangladesh's development, covering sectors like infrastructure, health, poverty reduction, governance, and climate change.
