Former MP and ex-Speaker of the National Parliament, Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, reportedly applied for a passport while in hiding due to her involvement in a murder case. It is claimed that she submitted her fingerprints and iris scan from home on October 10. However, according to the e-passport application rules, most procedures can be completed remotely, but applicants are still required to visit the passport office on the scheduled date to provide fingerprints and iris scans, unless they are seriously ill or physically unable to do so. This information was reported by Daily Desh Rupantor on Tuesday, November 5. It has been revealed that Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury is an accused in a murder case involving the death of 38-year-old Muslim Uddin, who was shot during a student and public protest in Rangpur. In an attempt to evade arrest, she and her husband, Syed Ishtiaq Hossain, applied for a regular e-passport at the Agargaon Passport Office in Dhaka on October 3. However, instead of visiting the office, they provided their fingerprints and iris scans from home on October 10.
