A 35-year-old man, Suman Mondal, was killed by a lightning strike in Rajbari while on his way to a nearby shop with his child.
The incident occurred on Wednesday (April 29) morning in Majjatkol village under the Mizanpur Union of Sadar Upazila. Suman, son of Siddik Mondal, had previously worked for an NGO but was recently staying at home after leaving his job.
According to eyewitnesses and family members, around 6:45 AM, Suman was carrying his daughter and heading to a local shop when a sudden lightning strike hit. The impact threw the child from his arms, and Suman collapsed on the ground. He was quickly taken to the সদর hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Although Suman died in the strike, the child survived with only minor bleeding from the nose and ears and is now out of danger. The incident was confirmed by Mizanpur Union Parishad administrator and Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer, Md. Jony Khan.
