A teenager and his father were brutally hacked to death in Chuadanga today following a long-standing land dispute with a rival group.
The deceased have been identified as 17-year-old Miraj Hossain and his father, Taiyab Ali, residents of the Alokdia Notunpara area in Chuadanga Sadar upazila, police confirmed. Law enforcement has already arrested two suspects in connection with the killings.
According to both police and local sources, the murders stemmed from a prolonged dispute over a piece of land between Taiyab Ali and his nephew, 43-year-old Babor Ali. Despite several attempts at resolving the matter through local arbitration, the conflict remained unsettled.
On Tuesday around noon, Miraj and Taiyab were drying jute in their field when Babor, along with his associate Raju, suddenly attacked them with sharp weapons. The attack was so brutal that Miraj died instantly on the spot. His father Taiyab, severely injured in the assault, was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries on the way.
