Fairuz Ishraque has made history as the first Bangladeshi scientist to join the US Antarctic Program. He recently arrived at McMurdo Station in Antarctica, where he will undergo training before proceeding to the Allan Hills for his research. In a social media post, Fairuz shared his excitement: "And touchdown! I have safely reached the McMurdo Station in Antarctica. Honored and privileged to be the first Bangladeshi scientist to be deployed by the US Antarctic Program 🇧🇩🇦🇶. I will spend the next few days catching up on trainings and then deploy to the Allan Hills to drill some really old ice cores!" His research will focus on drilling ice cores to support ongoing scientific studies in Antarctica.
