Elon Musk's Starlink is likely to debut in Bangladesh through Banglalink, the country's third-largest mobile operator, pending the finalization of a partnership between Starlink and Veon Ltd, its Dubai-based parent company. Veon plans to deliver satellite-powered cellular services to underserved regions in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan, addressing gaps in terrestrial networks during natural disasters or energy crises. Recently, Veon's Ukrainian subsidiary, Kyivstar, signed a similar agreement to provide satellite-to-cell services. Although spectrum allocation challenges persist, Veon’s growth strategy focuses on expanding telecom access and exploring financial and entertainment markets in emerging economies such as Vietnam, Ethiopia, and Mexico.
