Elon Musk voiced support for the people of Venezuela as Starlink, a SpaceX-owned company, announced it would offer free broadband internet access in the country through February 3. The initiative aims to maintain connectivity amid rapidly developing political events.
The announcement followed reports of dramatic developments after the latest UN sanctions against Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro, including widely circulated U.S.-linked footage depicting him in handcuffs during what was described as a staged perp walk. In the aftermath, Venezuela’s Supreme Court ordered Vice President Delcy Rodríguez to assume the powers and responsibilities of Acting President, citing Maduro’s “material and temporary inability” to perform his duties, according to reports.
