State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku announced that the government is providing low-income families access to protein during Ramadan.
Speaking at the inauguration of the subsidized milk, egg, and meat sale program on Thursday (February 19) at the Livestock Research Institute in Mohakhali, Dhaka, he said 1 million families will be able to purchase these items at reduced prices.
Sales have begun at 25 locations across the capital, including Uttara, Azimpur, and Mirpur, and will continue throughout the month of Ramadan.
The initiative will also expand to other districts. Prices are set at 96 BDT per dozen eggs, 80 BDT per kilogram of milk, and 650 BDT per kilogram of meat. The program is expected to help lower overall market prices as well.
