A tragic accident occurred past midnight in the 300 Feet area, where a car struck three students from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) at a police checkpoint. The collision killed Mohtasim Masud, a 2021 CSE batch student, on the spot and left his classmates, Amit Saha and Md. Mehedi Hasan Khan, injured. The incident happened while the students were undergoing identity verification at the checkpoint. The car was driven by Md. Mubin Al Mamun (Sadman), an A-level student and the son of retired Brigadier General Abdullah Al Mamun. Police confirmed that the driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
