Dr. Ejajul Islam, a National Film Award-winning actor and head of the Nuclear Medicine Department at Dhaka Medical College, is also known as the 'doctor of the poor.' He charges a nominal fee of 300 taka to see patients, despite being advised to increase his fee to 500 taka. After realizing many patients couldn't afford the higher fee, he returned to his original rate. Dr. Ejajul believes that the pursuit of money is a mental disorder, robbing people of peace and the true joys of life. For him, the purpose of life is not to accumulate wealth but to focus on relationships, self-satisfaction, and service to others. He chose medicine to help people and has never been swayed by the desire for extra income. A graduate of Rangpur Medical College and holder of a master’s in Nuclear Medicine from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, he also gained fame as an actor, winning Best Supporting Actor at the 39th National Film Awards.
