West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee made new remarks about Bangladesh in the state assembly on Monday. Addressing circulating comments on social media, she responded, "Some are saying they will occupy Kolkata, they will occupy Bihar. To those making such claims – you will be fine. You will occupy, but then what? Will we just sit back and eat lollipops?" During the assembly session, she asserted, "Bangladesh does not have the capability to occupy West Bengal or any part of India." She also commented on the visit of the Indian Foreign Secretary to Dhaka, expressing hope that these discussions would lead to positive outcomes. It’s worth noting that on December 2, Mamata Banerjee had suggested deploying UN peacekeeping forces in Bangladesh. She proposed, "Our suggestion is that the central government should urge the UN to send peacekeeping forces to Bangladesh."
