The bloodied body of Mahmudul Hasan, a 24-year-old student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at Dhaka International University, was found beside pillar number 125 of the metro rail line in Diabari, Uttara. On the night of Monday, 19 May, just after midnight, some passersby discovered him severely injured on the roadside. They quickly took him to Kurmitola General Hospital, where, unfortunately, the doctors declared him dead.
According to police reports, after his death was confirmed at the hospital, the body was collected and a preliminary inquest report was prepared before handing it over to his family. Nazrul Islam, the Officer-in-Charge of Pallabi Police Station, stated, “At first glance, it seems to be a road accident. It looks like he may have been struck by a vehicle. However, the exact cause of death cannot be confirmed until the autopsy report is completed.”
Mahmudul’s father, Idris Master, shared his perspective, saying, “My son died naturally. There were no major injury marks on his body, which is why we chose not to file any complaint with the police.” Afterward, the body was taken back to their village home in Ashrondh, Sapahar upazila of Naogaon district. Mahmudul Hasan was laid to rest in the family graveyard on Tuesday night.
