Dismissed trainee sub-inspectors (SIs) of the 40th batch staged a sit-in protest outside the Secretariat, demanding reinstatement. The protest, organized under the banner of the 40th (cadet) Sub-Inspector 2023 batch, took place Monday at noon. Protesters claimed 321 trainees, who joined training in November 2023 and completed it, were dismissed in four phases for minor infractions instead of being appointed.
Sajidul Islam, a protester, highlighted the reasons for dismissal, including skipping breakfast (203 trainees), failing to follow commands (49), inattentiveness in class (58), missing marching sessions (3), and making noise (8). Protesters called on the government for immediate reinstatement. Alamgir Hossain said they had submitted appeals to relevant authorities and have been protesting peacefully for days. If no resolution is reached, they will announce further action. Anamika Saha added that the trainees worked without pay during the year-long training and were dismissed just before being regularized. Over 50 dismissed cadets participated in the demonstration.
