Around 300 people in Uganda's Bundibugyo district have been affected by a mysterious illness called "Dinga Dinga," primarily impacting women and girls. The condition causes fever and severe body shaking, which hampers mobility. Dr. Kiyita Christopher, the district health officer, stated that antibiotics are being used for treatment, with no fatalities reported. He emphasized that herbal medicine is ineffective, and patients typically recover within a week. No cases have been reported outside Bundibugyo, and samples have been sent for analysis. The illness is reminiscent of the 1518 "Dancing Plague" in Strasbourg. Meanwhile, the Democratic Republic of the Congo is facing a similar outbreak with 400 cases and 30 deaths. Investigations are ongoing to identify the cause, with symptoms including fever and body aches.
