Wagging tails, curious whiskers, and cheerful faces filled Dhaka University’s Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) on Tuesday afternoon (January 20, 2026) as the campus hosted its inaugural Pet Carnival, transforming the iconic venue into a lively celebration of companion animals.
Organised by the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) with support from the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, the colourful event brought together pet lovers and their furry companions for an afternoon of fun, learning, and awareness.
Dogs, cats, and other pets stole the show, walking the ramp with their owners, posing for photos, and interacting with visitors, creating a joyful atmosphere throughout the venue.
Highlights of the carnival included a vibrant pet ramp show, a food-loving cat competition, exhibitions, and interactive stalls. Several booths provided guidance on pet healthcare, training, and nutrition, while awareness sessions emphasized animal welfare, proper care, and responsible pet ownership.
Organisers said the event aimed to promote compassion for animals and encourage young people to become responsible pet parents. Students and visitors praised the initiative, calling it a refreshing and meaningful addition to campus life.
