In response to students' demands, Dhaka University (DU) has banned the use of speakers or microphones for any events after 6 PM in areas such as TSC, Swoparjito Swadhinata Chattar, halls, and residential areas. The prohibition was announced in an emergency notice by the Proctor's Office on Saturday, November 7. The notice emphasized that loudspeakers, microphones, and car horns are strictly prohibited on campus to maintain a quiet environment conducive to students' studies. This decision follows protests by students from two women’s halls near TSC, who, on Saturday evening, used a soundbox to play music in front of the Vice-Chancellor's residence. Their protest was a response to the frequent loud music played during evening events in the TSC area. The protest gained support from other students, leading the university authorities to impose the new restriction.
