Syeda Rizwana Hasan, adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, has unveiled plans to amend regulations aimed at reducing honking and establishing horn-free silent zones across Dhaka city by December-January. Drivers found honking unnecessarily will face license renewal requirements, along with a Tk500 fine for first-time offenses. The enforcement of fines will start in December, following an analysis of violations in October and November. The announcement came during the inauguration of a three-kilometer silent zone around Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, held at the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh conference room on Tuesday. Rizwana Hasan stressed the importance of raising public awareness to change the habit of honking, stating, "I do not honk in my vehicle, and I hope everyone encourages drivers to avoid honking as well."
