Starting now, all passengers traveling on buses within Dhaka city and its suburban routes will be required to use e-tickets. QR codes will be available at bus stops, enabling commuters to scan, download an app, and purchase tickets digitally. For those without smartphones, over 3,500 ticket sellers will be stationed to provide tickets manually.
The e-ticket system was officially launched on Monday, January 19, during a press conference in Dhaka, with authorities aiming for full implementation within a week.
This initiative is a joint effort involving the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Dhaka Road Transport Owners’ Association, Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation, and several labor unions, with UrbanMove Tech providing the technical support.
