A defamation case has been filed against Nasiruddin Patwary, chief coordinator of the National Citizens’ Party (NCP), over remarks made about Mirza Abbas, political advisor to the Prime Minister and a member of BNP’s Standing Committee.
The case was filed on Sunday (8 March) morning at the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court in Dhaka by Ashraful Islam, president of Ramna Thana BNP.
The plaintiff’s lawyer, Md. Amirul Islam Amir, confirmed the information, saying, “We have already submitted the case petition. A hearing on the petition is scheduled for 11 a.m.”
It is noteworthy that in the most recent national election, Mirza Abbas and Nasiruddin Patwary both contested from the Dhaka-8 constituency. During the campaign, Patwary was seen engaging aggressively in verbal battles on the field. Several of his remarks about his rival, Mirza Abbas, also went viral on social media. However, he did not win the election, and Mirza Abbas was elected as the Member of Parliament from this constituency.
