Authorities have arrested former additional secretary Md Amjad Hossain and his son during a late-night raid at their residence in Dhaka’s Uttara. The operation, led by the army and police at House 33 in Sector 11, resulted in the seizure of over Tk1.95 crore in cash, foreign currency, 11 iPhones, and luxury watches. The four-hour raid and findings were confirmed by Officer-in-Charge Md Hafizur Rahman of Uttara West police station. The thorough search of Amjad's home uncovered a large sum of cash and high-end electronics, raising questions about the origins of these assets. Amjad Hossain, who retired from the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives in 2020, had no previous record of criminal activity. The police have confiscated the items as part of an ongoing investigation into suspected illegal activities.
