A recent opinion survey has revealed shifting voter preferences ahead of the upcoming national parliamentary election. Analysis shows that among voters who previously supported the Awami League, 48.2% now plan to vote for the BNP, 29.9% for Jamaat, 6.5% for the National Citizens’ Party (NCP), and 13% for other parties. About 2.4% remain undecided.
The survey, titled “Uncovering the Public Pulse: Findings from a Nationwide Survey,” was jointly conducted by the Communication and Research Foundation (CRF) and Bangladesh Election and Public Opinion Studies. The results were presented at a press conference at the National Press Club in Dhaka on Wednesday (February 4).
CRF Strategic Coordinator Zakaria Palash explained that the survey covered 11,038 voters across 180 parliamentary constituencies in 64 districts, conducted in two phases between November 20, 2025, and January 31, 2026.
The survey also found that over 90% of voters are interested in casting their ballots. Regarding issue-based priorities, 67.3% of voters identified corruption as the most important issue, followed by religion at 35.9%. Rising prices, employment, development, and security were also cited as significant concerns.
During the press conference, speakers expressed concern about the environment for a free and fair election, warning that voter turnout could drop if security and orderly conditions are not ensured on polling day. They emphasized that the Election Commission and government must play an effective role in facilitating access to polling stations, particularly for women and senior citizens.
