The court has refused to grant bail to Chinmoy Krishna Das, the ISKCON leader and spokesperson for the Bangladesh Combined Sanatani Jagoron Oikya Jot, sending him to jail. This decision came after his arrest following the filing of a sedition case related to a public rally in Chattogram, where he and others protested attacks on minorities. The ruling was made after a hearing in Chattogram, where his supporters staged protests outside the court, voicing their discontent with the legal process. Chinmoy Krishna Das had been outspoken in seeking justice for the attacks on religious minorities after the Awami League government fell in August. His arrest occurred at Dhaka's Shahjalal International Airport, triggering protests across the country, including in Dhaka, Chattogram, and other cities. His legal team intends to appeal the court's decision and has requested that he be allowed to practice his religion while in custody. The court has instructed authorities to ensure that prison regulations are followed in this regard.
