A contractor company in Madaripur took 1.28 crore taka without completing the model mosque and Islamic cultural center project. The construction, which was supposed to be completed within a year, has been delayed for five years, with only piling work finished. The project area is now abandoned, overgrown with bushes, and waterlogged. The delay was partly caused by land allocation issues. In 2023, a request to change the mosque's location halted work, and the contractor, in collusion with a former engineer, took payment for minimal work. A new contractor will be appointed, and construction will resume at the original site. Locals demand accountability for the delays and financial mismanagement.
