In Kumarkhali, Kushtia, a clash erupted between food servers and guests at a circumcision ceremony over repeatedly being served stew instead of meat. At least four people from both sides were injured, with one hospitalized at the upazila health complex while others received local first aid.
The incident took place around 3:30 PM on Friday at Rashidul Islam's house in Monohorpur village, Nandalalpur Union, during his son's circumcision ceremony.
According to police and local sources, about 300 relatives and neighbors were invited, and food was being served in a decorated pandal from noon. Around 3 PM, a group of eight, including Akbar’s wife, two children, Mahfuzur, and Channu, sat down to eat. Rashidul’s brother-in-law, Shahidul Islam, was serving the food. During the meal, Channu asked for better meat, leading Shahidul to replace the dish multiple times. However, disagreements arose each time due to the excessive stew, eventually escalating into a heated argument. The situation quickly turned violent, with chairs being thrown and attacks lasting nearly half an hour. Police later arrived and brought the situation under control.
