Clashes erupted between students of Daffodil International University and City University in Savar’s Birulia Khagan area late Saturday night, leaving several vehicles burned and causing extensive property damage.
The violence reportedly started after a City University student allegedly spat near a Daffodil student riding a motorcycle. Around 50 City University students then attacked a Daffodil hostel, triggering retaliation and hours of confrontations.
Authorities from both universities confirmed dozens of injuries—Daffodil reported about 150, while City University cited around 50. Multiple university buses and cars were set ablaze, and administrative buildings were damaged. Police reportedly arrived late, as both institutions tried to calm the situation.
