A child named Mezbah has died after falling into a deep borewell in Rauzan Upazila, Chattogram.
On Wednesday night (January 28), he was rescued and taken to Rauzan Upazila Health Complex, where the attending doctors declared him dead.
Earlier that afternoon, the incident occurred in Joynagar village, Ward 7 of Kadolpur Union, when Mezbah fell into the borewell. After several hours of effort by the Fire Service, he was rescued around 8:15 PM and rushed to the hospital.
A video circulating on social media shows locals trying to rescue or hold the child using torches and tree branches before the Fire Service arrived.
It is worth noting that last December, a child named Sajid fell into an abandoned borewell in Tanore Upazila, Rajshahi, and was found dead after nearly 32 hours.
