At the close of the interim government, major changes have been made at the top levels of the administration. The Ministry of Public Administration has cancelled the remaining term of Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rashid’s contractual appointment as Cabinet Secretary.
The information was announced on Saturday (14 February) in a notification issued by the Contracts and Foreign Appointments Branch of the Ministry.
The notification, signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Mohammad Mamun Shibli, stated that the contract appointment of Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rashid (ID No. 1530) as Cabinet Secretary, originally made on 8 October 2024, has now been revoked. The order, issued in the public interest, is effective immediately.
The directive has been implemented today, and copies have been sent to all relevant offices and departments for information.
It may be recalled that following the mass student and public uprising in July–August 2024, Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rashid had been appointed to this highly significant position.
