BUET student Shrishant Roy, who confessed on Reddit to raping a girl, sent to jail after remand

Shrishant Roy, a student of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), has been jailed under the Cyber Security Act 2023 for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. His arrest came after a Reddit post where he reportedly confessed to raping a classmate and harassing Muslim women, especially those wearing hijabs, on public transport. Following a three-day remand, he was produced before the court, which ordered his detention.
