Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. M. Sakhawat Hossain, the Adviser to the Ministry of Labour and Employment, stated that British American Tobacco must either adhere to the legal requirements in its operations or shut down and leave the country. He made these comments during the "Occupational Health and Safety Conference 2025," held on Monday (April 28) at a five-star hotel in the capital. The conference was organized by the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments and received support from the International Labour Organization.
In his speech, Sakhawat Hossain expressed frustration, saying, "I could not have made it any clearer. I have no other alternatives left. How much longer am I supposed to continue pleading with them?"
