A general diary (GD) has been filed with Badda Police Station after BRAC University received an anonymous email threatening a “mass bombing.” The email was sent at 6:44pm on Sunday, October 4, from an account named “Typical Chinese Man,” claiming that multiple bomb attacks would take place at the university at around 11:00am on Tuesday, October 6.
Addressing the university community, the email threatened a mass bombing and claimed that the attack would take place at 11:00am on October 6.
BRAC University authorities forwarded the email to the relevant authorities and alerted them as a precautionary measure. Several intelligence agencies are now investigating the threat.
Mohammad Ruhul Kabir Khan, deputy commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Gulshan Division, said there was no reason to panic, adding that the threat did not appear to be credible at this stage. A GD has been filed with Badda Police Station, while the DB cyber team is investigating the source of the email.
