Rakibul Mobin, a research assistant at the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), has been dismissed for making offensive remarks on social media about newly elected female representatives of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU). His comment, describing them as “house slaves” under a celebratory photo, sparked widespread outrage and led DUCSU’s newly elected Law and Human Rights Secretary to demand action.
In response, BIGD issued a statement on its official Facebook page stressing that Mobin’s views were solely his own and did not represent the institution. The statement condemned any form of discriminatory or disrespectful behavior based on gender, religion, politics, or identity, and reaffirmed BIGD’s commitment to ethical and professional standards.
