Actor Imran Khan joined a student protest in Mumbai on Wednesday, expressing solidarity with young demonstrators. He was seen marching with students at Shivaji Park in Dadar despite heavy rain. Videos and photos of his participation have since gone viral on social media.
His appearance comes days after his uncle, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, drew attention for saying during an event at the British Film Institute in London that he was unfamiliar with activist Sonam Wangchuk.
During the protest, Imran walked alongside students, interacted with demonstrators, took selfies, and voiced his support for their cause. Speaking to Beetroot, he said, "I'm here to show support and solidarity with all of the students whose work has been impacted."
He also criticized the reported use of force against student protesters, saying, "This violence has absolutely no place in civil public discourse. When students are raising legitimate concerns, responding with violence is absolutely unacceptable."
