The body of missing child Muntaha Akhter Zerin (6) was recovered from Kanaighat in Sylhet, seven days after her disappearance. She was found in a pond near her home, with a rope tied around her neck. Muntaha's body was discovered around 4 a.m. on Sunday (November 10) in the pond close to her house. She was the daughter of Shamim Ahmed from Birdal village, located in the Sadar union of Kanaighat upazila. Kanaighat Police Station OC Abdul Awal stated that the child appeared to have been killed and then thrown into the pond, as there was a rope around her neck and marks on her body. Muntaha's father believes she was killed deliberately. A general diary was filed at Kanaighat Police Station regarding the incident. Earlier, on Sunday (November 3) morning, Muntaha's father returned home from a local religious gathering (waj mahfil). Muntaha went to play with children in the neighboring houses as usual, but when she hadn’t returned by 3 p.m., the family began searching. However, she could not be found.
