The State Minister for Primary and Mass Education, Bobby Hajjaj, has announced that a new primary education curriculum will be introduced in 2028. He made this statement while speaking as the chief guest at a program held on Sunday afternoon at the conference hall of the National Academy for Primary Education (NAPE) in Mymensingh.
The minister said that a new curriculum design will be developed within the next two years. He added that within a year, the design process will be completed through full pilot testing, allowing trial implementation to begin. He also emphasized that teacher training and textbook development will start accordingly. He formally announced that the new primary curriculum will be launched in 2028, and teachers will be trained on it during 2027–2028.
He further commented that Bangladesh is lagging behind in many areas of primary education. According to him, the education system is not effectively designed to ensure learning outcomes, and students are failing as a result. He stressed the need for a system that truly supports learning and said that the country has moved away from effective teaching practices.
The minister highlighted that curriculum design is the most crucial step, stating that all other elements depend on it. He emphasized that if the curriculum is flawed, no other improvements will be effective.
The event was chaired by the Director General of NAPE, Farid Ahmed, and attended by officials from various levels.
