Ashiq Chowdhury, Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), has been appointed as a State Minister, as announced in a Cabinet Division notification on April 7, 2025. Zaheda Parveen, on the President's orders, signed the notification. As a State Minister, Chowdhury will receive the rank, salary, and allowances associated with the position. Previously, he was appointed BIDA’s Executive Chairman in September 2024 for a two-year term, with the rank of Senior Secretary, under the condition that he would relinquish ties with other institutions. His efforts to attract investment to Bangladesh have been notable, culminating in the launch of the 4-day Bangladesh Investment Conference in Dhaka, where over 600 investors from 40 countries, including the US, China, Japan, and South Korea, are participating.
