On December 19, 2024, BGB rescued a trafficked teenage girl, Shiuli Khatun, at the Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah by firing warning shots at Indian miscreants. Three Bangladeshi human traffickers—Abdul Mannan, Rubel, and Hriday Hossain—were arrested. Shiuli revealed she had been lured to Kolkata with promises of a job, only to discover she was being trafficked to Mumbai. After being assaulted and falling ill, her family paid 40,000 taka for her return, and she was sent back through the Maheshpur border. The BGB chased the traffickers and rescued Shiuli, while others attempted to attack BGB personnel but fled after the warning shots.
