Advisor to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Md. Nahid Islam, stated that although the Great Liberation War of 1971 resulted in victory, true independence was achieved through the mass uprising of 2024. He made these remarks while speaking to the media after paying tribute to the brave martyrs of the Liberation War at the National Memorial in Savar on the morning of Monday, December 16. Advisor Nahid emphasized that on this day, we remember all the martyrs of the Liberation War, as well as the martyrs of the July Uprising with deep respect. While the victory of 1971 gave us independence, it was not fully secured. Our true independence was completed through the mass uprising of 2024. He added that through the victory of 2024, the people of an Awami fascist-free country are now experiencing the true taste of victory.
