The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has discovered Tk 134 crore in a bank account linked to journalist Munni Saha. The account, registered under her advertising firm M/S Promotions, showed unusual activity. Saha and her husband, Kabir Hussain Taposh, are beneficiaries of the firm. The account, at One Bank’s Karwan Bazar branch, was opened in 2017, with Tk 120 crore withdrawn and Tk 14 crore frozen. BFIU also found suspicious transactions between M/S Promotions and M/S Prime Traders, despite no business ties. Saha, who has faced allegations related to the anti-discrimination student movement, could not be reached for comment. Her firm had a loan with One Bank, which was renewed despite payment failures.
